Man charged over aggravated break-in – Operation Boa

A man will face court charged following an alleged break-in and assault in the state’s Central West this week.

In January 2024, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District established Operation Boa, targeting property-related crime in Dubbo and surrounds.

About 5pm on Monday (12 February 2024), two men – allegedly armed with a knives – forced entry in a home on Macquarie Street, Dubbo.

The pair threatened the two occupants, demanding cash and drugs, before punching a woman in the face. Police were told they were known to each other.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, about 7am yesterday (Tuesday 13 February 2024), officers attended a home in Leavers Street, Dubbo, and arrested an 18-year-old man.

He was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with robbery in company, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence armed, and common assault.

The man appeared at Dubbo Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 13 February 2024), where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Thursday 11 April 2024.

Inquiries under Operation Boa continue.
