Man charged, prohibited weapons and drugs seized, NSW

A man has been charged after a Firearms Prohibition Order and Weapons Prohibition Order searches were conducted on properties in the state’s Murray River region yesterday.

About 9.30am yesterday (Wednesday 10 August 2022), officers attached to Murray River Police District’s Proactive Crime Unit, assisted by Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, attended a home on Urana Road, Lavington, and spoke with a 39-year-old man who had previously been served with a Firearms Prohibition Order and Weapons Prohibition Order.

During a search of the premises, police seized a quantity of methylamphetamine (‘ice’), five imitation hand grenades, and an imitation handgun used in gaming.

The man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station where he was charged with one count each of possess prohibited drug, possession of equipment for administering prohibited drugs, possess or use a military-style weapon without permit, and use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear in Albury Local Court on Wednesday 31 August 2022.
