Fawkner Highway Patrol are appealing for witnesses following the death of a pedestrian after he was struck by a car in Fawkner this morning.
Police have been told the collision occurred on the Western Ring Road as the car was travelling east, near Sydney Road, just after 3am.
The driver of the car involved, along with witnesses, stopped at the scene to render assistance.
Sadly, the pedestrian died at the scene.
Officers are appealing for information and or dashcam to assist in determining the movements of the pedestrian prior to the collision.
It is believed the man may have been on or in the vicinity of the freeway for some time prior to being struck.
