A man has died in hospital and a third man has been charged following an alleged stabbing in the Wollongong area earlier this week.
About 1.35pm on Monday (24 April 2023), emergency services were called to Myuna Way, Mangerton, following reports of a brawl.
Officers attached to Wollongong Police District responded and were told a fight involving six people resulted in two men being seriously injured.
A 31-year-old man was found suffering stab wounds to his arms. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and conveyed to Wollongong Hospital in a critical condition.
A 29-year-old man was also taken to hospital in a serious condition. He has since been released and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon. He remains before the courts.
Following inquiries, a 28-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday (25 April 2023), and charged with affray, and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
On Wednesday 26 April 2023, the 31-year-old man died in hospital and detectives established Strike Force Fetherstone to investigate his death.
The 28-year-old man arrested on Tuesday, was charged with murder. He remains in remand to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday 28 June 2023.
Following further inquiries, a 37-year-old man was arrested by investigators at a Mangerton home yesterday (Thursday 27 April 2023).
He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, affray, and robbery armed with offensive weapon.
The man was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 28 April 2023).
