Man drowns in Murray River

The body of a man has been located after he failed to resurface while swimming in the Murray River.

About 7.10am (Sunday 1 March 2020), emergency services were called after a man dived under the water and did not resurface, in Mildura, Victoria.

Friends attempted to search for the man but were unsuccessful.

Officers from Barrier Police District attended and commenced a search of the area, assisted by Police Divers, PolAir and the State Emergency Service (SES).

About 7pm, the search concluded when the body of a 24-year-old man was recovered from The Murray River near Mildura.

A brief will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
