Man found with critical head injuries, NSW

Detectives from Surry Hills Police Area Command have established a crime scene after a man was found suffering critical head injuries in Surry Hills.

About 12.20am (Thursday 23 April 2020), emergency services were called to a unit on Elizabeth Street, near Cleveland Street, after reports a man had been assaulted.

On arrival officers found the man, believed to be aged in his 50s, suffering critical head injuries.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he remains critical.

As detectives commence their inquiries, early information suggests two men fled the unit prior to the arrival of police.
