Man in court after drugs, cash, and weapons seized, NSW

A man will face court today charged after prohibited drugs, weapons and more than $30,000 cash was seized from a unit complex in Sydney’s west.

About 2.30pm yesterday (Thursday 29 December 2022), emergency services were called to Figtree Drive, Sydney Olympic Park, following reports a member of the public had heard a gunshot inside a unit complex.

Officers from Auburn Police Area Command, assisted by Public Order Riot Squad (PORS), established a perimeter, and commenced inquiries.

Police found no evidence of gunshots, and no injuries were reported; however, while making inquiries, investigators located and seized bags allegedly containing cocaine, and $36,921 cash.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at the unit, where they located mobile phones, a spear gun, hunting knives, steroids, and other prohibited drugs.

These items were also seized to undergo forensic examination.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Auburn Police Station, where he was charged with knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and supply prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 30 December 2022).

Investigations are continuing.
