Man in court after firearm found at Inverell, NSW

A man has been charged with firearms and drug offences following a search in Inverell yesterday.

Just before 3pm (Thursday 27 February 2020), officers attached to New England Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Oxley Place.

A 22-year-old man was arrested, and officers searched the premise, allegedly locating and seizing a Howa 223 bolt action rifle and ammunition. An amount of cannabis was also allegedly found during the search.

The man was taken to Inverell Police Station where he was charged with acquire firearm no licence/permit-not prohibited firearm/pistol, acquire ammunition for firearm without licence/permit, possess prohibited plant and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Inverell Local Court today (Friday 28 February 2020).
