Man in court over attempted armed robbery at Metford, NSW

A man is due in court today charged over the alleged attempted armed robbery of a service station in the Hunter two weeks ago.

Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District have been investigating the attempted robbery of the business on Metford Road at Metford about 7.50pm on Sunday 18 April 2021, by a man allegedly armed with a knife.

Police were told the man threatened the attendant demanding cash; however, left empty-handed.

Following inquiries, a 35-year-old man was arrested at a storage facility on Metford Road, Metford, about 7.30pm yesterday (Monday 3 May 2021).

He was taken to Maitland Police Station where he was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon (attempted).

The man, who is from Tenambit, was refused bail to appear in Maitland Local Court today (Tuesday 4 May 2021).
