Man in court over sexual act at Nowra, NSW

A man will face court today charged after allegedly committing a sexual act in front of a woman at Nowra earlier this week.

About 6pm on Tuesday (12 May 2020), a man entered a restaurant on Nowra Lane, Nowra, and approached a staff member, a woman aged in her 20s.

The man spoke to the woman before he allegedly committed an act of indecency.

The woman fled the store and notified police.

Officers from South Coast Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 38-year-old man at a park on Egans Lane, Nowra, about 10.30am yesterday (Wednesday 13 May 2020).

Police searched the man and allegedly found a crystal substance believed to be methylamphetamine (ice).

The man was taken to Nowra Police Station charged with carry out sexual act with another without consent, supply prohibited drug and enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

It will be alleged in court that the man attended a nursing home in Bomaderry on Tuesday (12 May 2020), and sat at the end of a resident’s bed, before being removed by staff.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court via AVL today (Thursday 14 May 2020).

South Coast Police District Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Scott Nelson praised the community for their assistance in the matter.

“We treat these types of crime very seriously and will act on any information provided to us by the community,” Det Insp Nelson said.
