A man is under police guard in hospital following the suspected domestic violence-related death of a woman near Liverpool overnight.
Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command were called to a home on Greendale Road, Greendale, about 9.30pm yesterday (Friday 30 December 2022), after a woman was found deceased inside her home.
The woman is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in her 70s.
A crime scene was established and an investigation begun by Liverpool City detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
Following extensive inquiries, the woman’s son was arrested about 1am today (Saturday 31 December 2022), at a service station at West Ballina by officers attached to Richmond Police District.
The 41-year-old man has been taken to Lismore Base Hospital for assessment; he remains there under police guard.
