Man injured in public-place shooting at Lake Macquarie, NSW

A man is undergoing treatment after he was shot in the leg in the Lake Macquarie region overnight.

Emergency services were called to a carpark in Arnott Street, Edgeworth, about 9.10pm yesterday (Friday 8 April 2022), responding to reports of a public-place shooting.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 27-year-old man at the scene for a gunshot wound to the right leg. He was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District secured a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The man has declined to provide a statement to police at this time, and investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage, to contact Lake Macquarie Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
