Homicide Squad detectives have released a 31-year-old man from custody following an incident Dandenong North yesterday morning.
A 26-year-old woman contacted police after seeing a man acting suspiciously in the front yard of her home on Gladstone Road about 5am.
The woman’s partner confronted the man and followed him to Carlton Road where a physical altercation took place.
The 37-year-old man, of no fixed address, sustained life-threatening injuries in the fight and was taken to hospital where he died several hours later.
The 31-year-old man sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.
Homicide Squad detectives released him late last night pending further enquiries.
