Man released in Hampton Park hit-run fatality investigation

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have released a 29-year-old man who was taken in custody yesterday as part of an investigation into a fatal hit-run collision in Hampton Park this week.

The Endeavour Hills man was interviewed by investigators and released pending further enquiries last night.

The investigation into the death of a 58-year-old cyclist on Thursday continues.

He was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike near the intersection of Hallam and Pound roads about 4.30am.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop after colliding with the cyclist.

The vehicle suspected of being involved was set alight a short time later in a Glen Waverley carpark.
