Man Rescued from Trestle Mountain

A 20 year old South Australian man has been rescued from Trestle Mountain in the state’s south after becoming stranded near the summit.

Emergency services were contacted at 3:45pm after the man became overwhelmed after climbing a technical section of the mountain near the peak.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was utilised to transport the man due to the remote location of the area.

Tasmania Police would like to remind bushwalkers and mountain climbers that they need to be adequately prepared for any planned trip or excursion.

Walkers should ensure that they take the time to plan their outing properly and carry adequate clothing and food. They also need to understand the local weather and terrain conditions.

Anyone who completes a bushwalk or rock climb should let others know where they are going and when they plan to return. They should also carry a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) and ensure their phone battery is adequately charged.
