Man seriously assaulted during home invasion at Broken Hill, NSW

Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted during a home invasion in the state’s far west.

About 5.30pm yesterday (Sunday 22 September 2019), three men entered a home on Gypsum Street at Broken Hill where they assaulted and threatened the female occupant with a machete.

The trio proceeded to ransack the house until the male occupant of the home arrived.

Police were told the man was hit across the head with a wooden club as he walked through the front door before being assaulted by the three men.

The woman and young children ran from the home and alerted police.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District arrived and located the man with serious head and neck injuries.

He was taken to Broken Hill Hospital for treatment to multiple facial and neck fractures.

A crime scene was established and examination commenced.
