Mannalargenna Day 2020

Peter Gutwein,Premier

Roger Jaensch,Minister for Aboriginal Affairs

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is continuing to reset the relationship with Tasmania’s Aboriginal communities.

Today, we feel privileged to attend Mannalargenna Day celebrations at the Tebrakunna Visitors Centre at Little Musselroe Bay in Tasmania’s North-East.

This is the sixth annual celebration since the event was established by the melythina tiakana warrana Aboriginal Corporation, recognising 185 years since the passing of a spiritual leader, formidable warrior and revered clan leader of the Tebrakunna Country.

The annual celebration is an important opportunity for both Aboriginal and wider communities to learn about and celebrate their connection to country through cultural performances, food, walks, tours, story-telling and discovery sessions.

The Tasmanian Government has provided $5,000 in funding towards Mannalargenna Day to assist in holding this year’s event.

We would like to thank the members of the melythina tiakana warrana Aboriginal Corporation, Reconciliation Tasmania and the many volunteers and supporters for organising this year’s event in line with the current COVID-19 regulations.
