Hobartians are encouraged to commemorate Anzac Day in the way that means the most to them this Sunday.
Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds said COVID-19 restrictions had reduced the size of Sunday’s services but provided opportunities for more personal commemorations.
“The Dawn Service will be restricted to 3000 pre-registered attendees, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t all take part,” Cr Reynolds said. “Last year’s Light up the Dawn campaign showed us how powerful a unified action can be, even when we are physically separated.
“If you can’t attend the Dawn Service, you can still participate by lighting a candle and observing a minute’s silence in your driveway or doorway at 6am.”
The Anzac Day Parade starts in Macquarie Street at 11am and concludes at the Cenotaph, where a service will be held – again capped at 3000 attendees, who are required to pre-register via the RSL Tasmania website.
The Parade itself is smaller than in previous years, with only veterans and serving defence force personnel participating. Spectators must be pre-registered and check in using the Check In TAS app.

“RSL Tasmania will be broadcasting the march via its Facebook page, so you can honour those marching from wherever you may be on Sunday morning,” Cr Reynolds said.
