  • Perth’s newest attraction, the Matagarup Bridge climb is on track to open on January 26, with more than 2,000 tickets already sold.

Part of the Matagarup Bridge activities, the climb adventure experience will open first, as part of a staged launch, with the highly anticipated zip-line on track to open in March.

The bridge climb will be offered at an introductory price of $59 per person with photos of the experience emailed directly to participants. A virtual reality climb is also under development to ensure people of all ages and mobility can enjoy the experience.

The bridge climb will involve a 314-step trek up the bridge’s main arch, ascending 58 metres to the ‘sky view’ platform before descending along the other side of the arch.

Night-climbs, including full-moon tours, will also be offered, giving participants a unique birds-eye view of Perth City and its surrounds under colourful night lights.

Operated by Western Australian company Perth Bridge Climb and Zip Pty Ltd, the adventure activities will be marketed as Matagarup Zip+Climb.

Matagarup Zip+Climb are planning other activities within Burswood Park, including an all-ages climbing frame and miniature golf course, to encourage more people to the precinct.

As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

“I will be climbing the bridge for the first time today, and I am looking forward to seeing our beautiful Swan River and surrounds from a unique bird’s eye view.

“This exciting new attraction will bring locals and tourists to the area, thrilling people who have been waiting eagerly since we first announced the activities project in 2018.

“Tickets have been on sale less than a month and already more than 2,000 have been sold.

“The finishing touches are now being applied to the zip-line ride, which will begin operating once all necessary safety and operational approvals are in place.”
