Nillumbik Shire Council is offering local small business owners the opportunity to participate in the 2022 Small Business Mentoring program.

This free, interactive eight-week mentoring program for new small business owners is open for expressions of interest. New is considered any business that has commenced in the last two years.

The program consists of online learning modules, engaging in-person workshops, live online coaching sessions and guest expert Q+As.

Nillumbik Mayor Frances Eyre said that the need for more tailored educational opportunities to help small businesses was identified in last year’s annual business survey by Council’s Economic Development and Tourism team.

“With specialist mentors, Nillumbik small businesses can take the time to focus on their business and the challenges they face with a focus on making informed decisions about their business’ future growth,” Cr Eyre said.

“The ability to upskill and learn new strategies to advance their business with specialists across a range of fields including goal setting, marketing, reskilling and retraining will be of huge benefit to local business owners.”

This year’s program is focused on new small businesses owners and operators who are in the early stages of their business endeavours and who have been operating for less than two years.

The mentoring program will be facilitated by Fiona Killackey, award-winning author, speaker, podcaster, accredited business coach and the founder of My Daily Business Coach. It has been designed to take participants onto the next stage of their business journey by giving them the skills and expertise most relevant to them.

Fiona has worked with large and small brands in senior content and marketing roles – including Amazon, Cool Hunting, Audible and Country Road Group – for almost two decades and now spends most of her time helping small business owners to develop their marketing, branding and systems and processes in a way that is unique and authentic to them.

The program kicks off on Monday 16 May.
