A smorgasbord of delicious food and culture will be on show when a Logan City Council initiative continues this month.
The Stories from the Kitchen series is on at Loganlea Community Centre on Saturday, April 23.
The event aims to bring together people from diverse cultural backgrounds to make vital community connections.
Participants are asked to bring a plate of food from their culture, along with a story to tell.
Family and friends are also welcome to the centre at 28-32 Timms Street.
City Lifestyle Chair, Councillor Laurie Koranski, urged locals to cook up a storm, then come and share some food and a yarn.
“Behind every meal is a story, and with 340,000 people and 217 cultures in City of Logan, we have a smorgasbord of food to be shared, stories to be told and connections to be made,” Cr Koranski said.
“Whether you’re new to the City of Logan, or a long-term resident ready to meet new people from different cultures, you’re welcome to join an upcoming Stories from the Kitchen dinner.
“We’ve seen what a fantastic community Logan has, and this is a chance to really extend that and connect with a neighbour over a delicious meal and a chat about their culture.”
Division 6 Councillor, Tony Hall, said it was a chance for people to make new friends over a plate of food.
“Food is a great way to bring the community together,” he said.
“Bring a dish that is important to you and share your culture and this experience with your friends and neighbours.”
The event is funded by the Queensland Government’s Celebrating Multicultural Queensland Program.

Organisers are also looking for volunteers to help run the event.
They have the chance to gain confidence and develop professional and leadership skills for their resume.
