Metrological requirements for hydrogen dispensers for vehicles: have your say

The National Measurement Institute (NMI) is seeking input on pattern approval requirements and test procedures for hydrogen dispensers for vehicles. These systems are intended to fuel road vehicles, rail engines, boats, vessels and aircraft.

Our proposal is to adopt the current international standard (OIML Recommendation 139) for compressed gaseous fuel measuring systems for vehicles which includes requirements for hydrogen. We also propose to revise the National Instrument Test Procedures for these systems.

This regulatory approach aims to harmonise Australia’s requirements with international requirements. By aligning requirements with our trading partners, we can remove barriers to trade and provide a level playing field for manufacturers and suppliers of hydrogen dispensers.
