Mill Park Leisure opens its doors after $25 million revamp

Mill Park Leisure will open its doors on April 28, fresh from a $25 million refurbishment.

The much-anticipated re-opening will be staged over two dates to allow access to the gym before the aquatic area which will open shortly.

The 24/7 gym includes the latest technology-enhanced Matrix equipment, expansive cardio and weight training areas, medical and inclusive equipment options and is the first leisure centre in Australia to include a full-sized 12ft rock-climbing wall (tread wall).

Small group functional training (MX4), reformer pilates, gym and group fitness memberships are now available.

Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson said Council was very excited to be reopening the refreshed state-of-the-art centre.

“We have invested significantly in the rejuvenated leisure centre and this fulfils our plans to creating a connected community and making sure everyone has access to excellent quality leisure facilities now and for many years to come,” Ms Wilson said.

“The project has been a complex and lengthy one and we thank the community for their patience while we create this inclusive, modern leisure centre.

“We are really pleased to welcome back returning members and greeting new members as we know many are keen to get back to their fitness regimes.

“We want to reassure everyone that the safety of our customers and our supportive and experienced staff remain a priority and every step has been taken to ensure we can re-open as safely as possible.”

The City of Whittlesea has invested $20 million into this project and has received $2 million in funding from the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund and $3 million from the Community Sport Infrastructure Fund.
