Miss World contestants head to Parliament House to call for “world peace” this Christmas

Three Miss World Australia contestants have stepped out in support of World Vision’s call for Australians to do something tangible to foster Peace on Earth this Christmas.

Miss World Australia 2017 Esma Voloder, Miss World Australia 2018 Taylah Cannon and 2019 runner-up Jenayah Elliott are supporting the charity’s inaugural Peace on Earth Pledge, which gives Australians the opportunity to contribute to world peace via an online campaign.

The three women are in Canberra today to spread the message of peace among the nation’s politicians and urge them to sign the Peace on Earth Pledge.

INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY WITH:

  • Miss World Australia 2017 winner, Esma Voloder (from VIC)
  • Miss World Australia 2018 winner, Taylah Cannon (from NSW)
  • Miss World Australia 2019 runner-up, Jenayah Elliott (from WA)
  • World Vision spokesperson, Caelin Briggs

ABOUT THE PEACE ON EARTH PLEDGE:

The Peace on Earth Pledge highlights recommendations from a new World Vision report, Crisis Averted, which has found that the high incidence of conflict globally had fuelled an unprecedented global humanitarian crisis.

The Pledge will give people 10 options to help create a better world:

  1. Buy a toy for a child affected by conflict
  2. Take a stand to end violence against women
  3. Tell PM Scott Morrison: “How good’s peace!”
  4. Get to know your neighbours
  5. Donate to a foodbank for displaced families in Australia
