Mobile COVID testing clinic to move out of Elphin Sports Centre

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Health

As community sport begins to return over the coming weeks, the Elphin Sports Centre will need to be returned for community sport and recreation use.

The Government has been investigating alternative options for the Launceston COVID-19 testing clinic, and has identified the northern corner of the Inveresk Precinct.

We will finalise planning for the move of the drive through testing clinic’s operations to the new location within the next fortnight.

As a Government we’ve had to make some very tough decisions in order to protect Tasmanians from the threat of COVID-19.

I know Tasmanians love their community sport and many have dearly missed their weekly engagement, so I would like to thank all members of the Launceston community during this period, and in particular regular users of this centre who have been inconvenienced.

I am so pleased that we are starting to see our community slowly reopen, and as this occurs it’s important that we all continue to listen to Public Health advice and keep our community safe.
