Moccasins not essential at first Spotswood Festival

Spotswood Festival 2022

The first Spotswood Festival – this Saturday, 30 April

That suburb just off the Bridge, on the way to Williamstown.

Where they made that film with Anthony Hopkins, Toni Collette and Russell Crow set in a moccasin factory. But it was actually the sewage pump house at Scienceworks.

Was Spottiswoode. Now Spotswood. Today, our suburb is known for institutions like Scienceworks, Two Birds Brewing, Grazeland (and Ninja Warrior season 3).

Our first street festival has two music stages, over 40 stalls, kids rides and car displays,

Four time ARIA award winner Nicky Bomba and his Bustamento ensemble will be bringing their special Caribbean flavour, and Australia’s leading lady of stage, film and television, Debra Byrne will perform as the great ballads she is known for. The jazz stage at the dining end of Hudsons Road will host a more downbeat groove, finishing up with some DJ sets to close the afternoon with plenty of take away drink and food options nearby.

The Spotswood Festival is a local initiative by Better West and is supported by Hobsons Bay City Council through its Make it Happen Grants program, and the Victorian Government through the West Gate Tunnel Project’s West Gate Neighbourhood Fund.
