More than 50 new paramedics and call takers have begun their new careers with NSW Ambulance, with the latest class of graduates officially inducted into the service today.
NSW Health Minister Ryan Park welcomed the 28 new paramedic interns and 27 Triple Zero (000) call takers to the Ambulance team.
“We know our paramedics and call takers are always there for the community when we need them most,” Mr Park said.
“I’m honoured to welcome this round of graduates, the fifth this year, to further boost frontline health services across our state.”
Family and friends came out to see the graduates officially inducted at a ceremony at Sydney Olympic Park.
The paramedic interns will be located across NSW for 12 months to complete their internships before taking permanent postings in metropolitan and regional areas.
The call takers will be posted to Triple Zero (000) call centres in Sydney, Dubbo and Newcastle.
NSW Ambulance Chief Executive Dr Dominic Morgan said the new recruits will start in their new roles from tomorrow.
“As demand for our services continues to grow, we remain committed to providing world class care to our patients,” Dr Morgan said.
“I know these new starters have worked incredibly hard throughout their training.
“I thank them for their commitment and warmly welcome them into the NSW Ambulance family.”
