More training opportunities in Tasmania

Guy Barnett,Acting Minister for Skills, Training and Workforce Growth

The JobTrainer Fund has been boosted with an additional $10.5 million now available to provide more training places and additional qualifications for Tasmanians.

This means that even more Tasmanians will have access to free nationally recognised training in 245 currently available qualifications, as well as more options in aged care and digital skills.

JobTrainer is funded 50-50 by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, and this latest funding boost takes the Tasmanian Government’s Job Trainer Fund contribution to $21 million.

Importantly, JobTrainer has proven highly successful with more than 7,000 Tasmanians taking up places since it began in October 2020.

Young Tasmanians aged 17 to 24, including school leavers, and job seekers are eligible for free JobTrainer Fund training to help ensure we have the skilled workforce needed to support our growing economy.

For this new round, training will be focused on areas of job growth, with specific targets for aged care and digital skills qualifications, which are recognised as priorities nationwide.

Free training is being made available to learners in the aged care, childcare, disability care and digital skills industry areas regardless of their age or employment status to support this focus.

Eligible Registered Training Organisations can apply for JobTrainer funding from now until 4 March 2022.

People who are interested in enrolling in a JobTrainer funded course will be able to access a list of qualifications and training providers from late March 2022.
