Burnet Institute’s life-saving research and support for health services and outcomes in Papua New Guinea’s East New Britain province has been endorsed with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The two-year agreement, with the newly formed East New Britain Provincial Health Authority (ENBPHA), is effectively an extension of prior agreements with the East New Britain Provincial Administration from 2015 to 2019.

The MoU reaffirms Burnet’s relationship with the ENBPHA with the aim of strengthening provincial health systems and to enhance existing personal and institutional linkages as the basis for ongoing and mutually beneficial collaborations.

The agreement specifically provides for an expansion of collaborations in maternal and child health, and adolescent health, and ongoing support for Burnet’s landmark Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies project through the delivery of services, information, and the conduct of health research.

The MoU was signed by Burnet Director and CEO, Professor Brendan Crabb AC, and ENBPHA Chair, Sir Ronald ToVue.
