Multiple property offences, Burnett area

Two men have been charged with 57 offences following a number of incidents occurring over a three-week period.

A 19-year-old man was taken into custody yesterday on Bell Street after allegedly evading police and hiding underneath a house.

Another 19-year-old man allegedly rammed a vehicle and drove from the scene at Wondai before being taken into custody at Cherbourg.

Detectives will allege the pair were responsible for a range of offences including robbery with violence, wilful damage of premises, fuel drive offs, breaking into homes and businesses, theft of property and unlawful use of motor vehicles.

It is alleged that the pair travelled in a group committing these offences across central and southern Queensland.

On one occasion, one of the men allegedly robbed a 53-year-old woman of her handbag causing her to fall down a set of stairs. The elderly lady suffered bruising to the back of her head.

In total, the pair were involved in more than 18 incidents resulting in 57 charges between them.

Both men appeared in Murgon Magistrates Court yesterday and remanded in custody to reappear next month.

Investigations are continuing with more charges expected.
