Munro Drive Park Construction Contract Awarded

Work to upgrade Munro Drive Park will begin in the New Year after Council awarded the landscape construction contract for the project.

This $450,000 Wyndham City project includes new play equipment and nature-based play area, new seating and upgraded concrete pathways at the Wyndham Vale reserve, providing better opportunities for children to play and people to exercise.

Wyndham City Mayor Adele Hegedich said this upgrade was part of Council’s strategy to address ageing infrastructure within several Wyndham reserves as detailed in the Play Space Strategy and Open Space Strategy.

“This year has shown us the importance of having open spaces close to home that the whole family can enjoy,” Cr Hegedich said.

“Spending time in your local park – whether for exercising, playing with your children or simply relaxing – can bring significant benefits to people’s mental and physical health.”

Wyndham City Active City portfolio holder Cr Peter Maynard added: “Wyndham City is spending $9.1 million to build and upgrade parks and open spaces over 2020/21, and the Munro Drive Park upgrade will provide Wyndham Vale residents with a more welcoming space.”

The Munro Drive Park upgrade is expected to be complete by mid-2021.
