Murray Bridge murder investigation continues, South Australia

Further CCTV footage has been released by Major Crime Investigators in relation to the 2019 murder of 47-year-old Murray Bridge man Oliver Todd.

These new recordings show the red Nissan Navara utility in Murray Bridge on Wednesday 11 December 2019 travelling on Swan Port Road outside the IGA supermarket at 10.12am and 10.22am. Then later on Adelaide Road/Karoonda Highway near McDonalds at 10.57am and 11am.

On Thursday 12 December 2019 the same ute was seen travelling on Jarvis Avenue near the veterinary clinic at 5.42am and 11.04am.

About 10am on the morning of Wednesday 11 December 2019, Murray Bridge Resident Oliver Todd was reported missing from his Tenneyson Avenue home. There were signs of a physical struggle at the address.

At 4.30pm on the same date, Police located the body of a man at Jervois, adjacent to the River Murray, about 15 kilometres South East of Murray Bridge. The body was later identified as Oliver Todd, and the Major Crime Investigation Branch has since declared his death a murder.

At the same location, Police also found a child’s bicycle. The distinctive brightly coloured bicycle is considered foreign to the area and police suspect it came from the township of Murray Bridge.

It is believed Oliver Todd was attacked in his home with a tomahawk (a small axe), his body wrapped in a wool bale bag and transported to Jervois in the red Nissan Navara utility, SA registration S307AMK, where he was dumped.

Police seek any information from the public in relation to the weapons used in this incident, including a tomahawk or small axe.

On Thursday 12 December 2019, a 30-year-old man and a 49-year-old man, both from Murray Bridge, were arrested and charged with murder.

Police ask that anyone who may be able to provide any information on the movements of the ute is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au – you can remain anonymous.

Police wish to thank those that have contacted police regarding the previously released image of the child’s bicycle.
