Music in City returns for 2022 season

Grab your lunch and get your groove on when Music in the City returns to Townsville CBD today.

The free lunchtime concert series gives people in the city a vibrant way to pass their lunchtime each week.

Council Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the series had always been popular with locals.

“Music in the City is a great way to spend a Friday lunchtime, whether you’re taking a break from work, grabbing some lunch while travelling or catching up with family or friends,” Cr Greaney said.

“This series is kicking off today with Sneaky Beats Music and will continue until late July, with a fresh act performing each week.

“I’d highly encourage locals and visitors to the city to take some time to enjoy the free concerts each Friday.”

Cr Greaney said Music in the City was a Council-led initiative to help make the city centre a more vibrant and entertaining place to visit.

“Townsville CBD has so much to offer, which is why Council is committed to activating the city centre and encouraging more foot traffic through the area,” she said.

“While you’re heading to see the great live acts at the Perfume Gardens, why not check out the lunch specials available from local eateries or pop into some of the locally-owned shops in the area? There’s always something unique to enjoy when you’re in the Townsville CBD.”

Music in the City will run from midday to 2pm each Friday at the Perfume Gardens on the corner of Stokes and Walker streets.
