Naomi Flutter reconfirmed as ANU Pro-Chancellor

The Australian National University Council have unanimously endorsed ANU Pro-Chancellor Ms Naomi Flutter for a second term.

Ms Flutter will continue to serve in the role until 30 June 2022.

ANU Chancellor Ms Julie Bishop said Ms Flutter had made an “extraordinary” contribution to ANU since first taking up the role in July 2017.

“Naomi is not only a distinguished graduate of ANU but brings a wealth of experience, expertise and knowledge that helps make ANU a better university and a better community.

“Her work and drive are examples of the ANU mission in action – to improve all lives and our world.

“Since joining ANU, first as a member of Council in 2014 and then as Pro-Chancellor in 2017, Naomi has made valuable contributions to multiple Council committees, including the sub-committee stood up to assist us through the current COVID-19 crisis.

“She brings unwavering energy and commitment to ANU, despite maintaining a demanding senior executive role at Wesfarmers.

“I am delighted that Naomi will remain in the role of Pro-Chancellor until mid-2022 and, as their unanimous vote shows, so is the rest of the ANU Council. “All of us look forward to continue to work with Naomi as we strive to enact ANU Council’s vision for our great University.”

Pro-Chancellor Naomi Flutter said: “The ANU gave me an exceptional tertiary education and I am delighted to continue to contribute to the University’s governance, as Pro-Chancellor and a Council member.

“As the national university, ANU has a responsibility to play a distinctive and important leadership role for our country and community.

“I deeply enjoy working alongside Council, the University’s leadership and our broader academic, professional and student communities, as we embrace this responsibility and work to realise the opportunities before us.”
