National Children’s Week 2021

DFFH

Children’s Week, running from 23-31 October, provides an important opportunity to consider how we can help children and young people safely navigate social connections with peers and adults.

Because of restrictions put in place during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, children and young people have relied on technology to maintain existing social connections and make new ones.

Increased use of technology also increases the risks to children and young people’s safety and may present challenges for individuals and organisations.

We can all help keep children and young people safe in both online and physical environments. For practical tips and resources, visit:

New child safe standards for Victoria

New child safe standards will begin on Friday, 1 July 2022. Key changes to the standards include how organisations can help children and young people keep safe online.

The new Victorian Child Safe Standard 9 will require organisations to make sure that physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed.
