NBN reaches 10 million milestone

The Morrison Government is delivering Australia’s National Broadband Network with NBN now available to more than 10 million Australian homes and businesses and the rollout is on track for 2020 completion.

Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, said this is a significant milestone in the rollout of NBN’s fast and affordable internet for all Australians.

“The NBN is the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken in this country and it is on track for completion by mid-2020,”

Minister Fletcher said. “NBN Co is constantly improving its services so that connections are fast and reliable.”

Minister Fletcher said NBN has come a long way since its inception in 2009 and is hitting its targets, with more than 86% of the network build now complete.

Last week NBN Co connected more than a thousand premises to the Network every working hour. This builds on the timely and efficient rollout of the Network in 2018-19, during which NBN Co connected 2.9 million households in just 12 months.

The Government’s investment in the NBN has dramatically changed the communications landscape in Australia with 5.6 million homes and businesses now connected to the NBN.

In the past 12 months, the NBN has enabled an extra 2.9 million Australian premises.
