New Amenities For Albion Oval Sportsfield

Official opening Saturday 1 June – 9.30am

The new amenities facilities at Albion Oval, Albion Park Rail, will be officially opened this weekend.

The renewal project replaces the previous amenities building with modern, functional facilities designed to support the diverse needs of Shellharbour City’s sports community and ensure a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment for all users.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer will officially open the new amenities building along with The Hon. Dr Sarah Kaine MLC, Member for Kiama Gareth Ward and local sporting club representatives.

Albion Oval amenities building features diverse male and female change rooms, a canteen, dedicated storage rooms for sports equipment, a referees’ room, a first aid room, and public toilets.

Council contributed $1.85M to the project while the NSW State Government’s Regional Sports Facilities Fund gave $750,000.

Shellharbour City Council Mayor Chris Homer said the upgrades would provide diverse benefits to local sporting communities.

“This new infrastructure will enable increased participation in organised sport and community activities in Shellharbour City,” Mayor Homer said.

“The building has been thoughtfully designed to enhance the experience of all users and aims to serve as a central hub for activities and events.

“I thank Council staff for securing the funding and for their commitment to providing high-quality and accessible sporting facilities,” he said

The Mayor also expressed his appreciation to the NSW State Government for its support in funding the project.

Minister for Sport, Steve Kamper said projects like these show the NSW Government’s commitment to creating spaces and facilities that enable communities to enjoy and take part in sport.

“Local sport infrastructure plays a critical role in keeping communities healthy, active and connected and these improvements mean that Albion Oval can cater to more members of community, now and into the future.”
