New arrangements for leading Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission

  • Senior Commissioner Stephen Kenner to carry out duties and functions of Chief Commissioner of the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission (WAIRC)
  • With the retirement of Chief Commissioner Pamela Scott, Industrial Relations Minister Bill Johnston is pleased to announce that Senior Commissioner Stephen Kenner will be carrying out the duties and functions of Chief Commissioner until an appointment can be made on a permanent basis.

Senior Commissioner Kenner has been a Commissioner since 1998 and was appointed as a Senior Commissioner in 2018.

As stated by Industrial Relations Minister Bill Johnston:

“I thank Pamela Scott for her outstanding work as Chief Commissioner and wish her all the best for her retirement.

“I’m very pleased that Senior Commissioner Kenner will be carrying out the duties and functions of the Chief Commissioner on an interim basis.

“As a longstanding and well-respected member of the commission, he is well qualified to lead the commission in the coming months.

“The State Government is committed to ensuring the WAIRC is resourced to perform its important role in maintaining harmonious industrial relations in Western Australia.

“It’s unfortunate the WA Liberal Party didn’t approve the Industrial Relations Legislation Amendment Bill last year; it would have not forced Ms Scott into retirement.”
