Ballarat residents and visitors are invited to discover the city through the eyes of local artists, with the Ballarat In The Know Art Trail set to begin installation across the CBD this weekend.
From Saturday 19 September, nine large-scale artworks created by Ballarat artists will begin appearing at locations throughout the city centre as part of the Ballarat In The Know Art Trail.
The temporary public art activation celebrates the people, places, landscapes, food, culture and unique character that make Ballarat special, with each artist sharing their own personal interpretation of what they love most about the city.
The trail features works by:
- Scott Leonard at Time Zone external wall, Bridge Mall
- Abbie Matthews at The Unicorn
- Melinda Muscat at Myer Loading Dock
- Carly Hitchcock at Hop Lane
- Caroline Keys at Hop Lane
- Brigid Corcoran at Parent Place external wall
- Jay Rankine at Central Square external wall, Doveton Street
- Ben Sanders and Cam Ross at Time Zone external wall, Bridge Mall
- Spencer Harrision at Mckenzie Lane
Each artwork tells a different story about Ballarat, celebrating everything from favourite local businesses and iconic landmarks to treasured memories, natural environments and cultural influences.
City of Ballarat Acting Mayor, Cr Ben Taylor said the Art Trail is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both our local creative talent and the places, experiences and stories that make Ballarat such a vibrant community.
“Each artwork offers a unique perspective on our city and encourages residents and visitors alike to explore the CBD, discover something new and see Ballarat through the eyes of local artists,” he said.
“The Ballarat In The Know Art Trail is a great way to show off our city to friends and family, so why not invite some to visit and experience Ballarat over the coming weeks?”
The murals will remain on display until the end of October, offering plenty of opportunity for residents and visitors to explore the trail and experience the city from a fresh perspective.
The Ballarat In The Know Art Trail has been designed to encourage people to move through the CBD, discover new places and celebrate the creativity of the local arts community.

Residents are encouraged to keep an eye out as the artworks begin appearing from Saturday 19 September 2026 and follow the trail to discover what local artists love most about Ballarat.
