Council has added multiple mobile CCTV cameras to our safety and security toolkit.
They will be deployed across Bayside as needed to support community safety.
Mobile and fixed cameras are just one of a range of tools that we use to address anti-social behaviour, deter vandalism, dumped rubbish and damage, protect public facilities and help maintain safe and welcoming places for residents and visitors.
We are committed to transparent and responsible use of CCTV and digital surveillance technology. Cameras are clearly marked to notify the community when surveillance is occurring.
Footage collected through surveillance is managed in accordance with applicable legislation. Access to this footage is restricted to authorised personnel and is only provided when there is a lawful and legitimate reason to do so.
Bayside Mayor, Cr Debbie Taylor-Haynes said that the new mobile CCTV cameras were another way Council supports Victoria Police and other organisations to keep residents and businesses safe.
“Bayside City Council regularly meets with Victoria Police, Neighbourhood Watch, the Department of Justice and other stakeholders to identify ways we can keep our community safe,” she said.
“We have also advocated to the Victorian Government for increased police resources and reforms to address repeat offending.”
The provision of mobile and fixed cameras aligns with Goal 1 of the Council Plan 2025-2029 – Our People: Bayside is a safe, inclusive and active community with opportunities for connection and wellbeing.
