New Chair appointed for TasNetworks

The Tasmania Government welcomes the appointment of Mr Roger Gill as the new Chair of Tasmanian Networks.

Mr Gill has been a Director of the TasNetworks Board since November 2017 and has been appointed for three years.

With broad experience in the electricity, water, agriculture, transport, infrastructure development and construction sectors, Mr Gill is president of the UK-based International Hydropower Association and a non-executive director of Pacific Hydro Australia as well as a large hydropower company in Brazil.

Mr Gill has significant exposure to the electricity industry and associated industry/regulatory reform processes at both board and executive level.

Mr Gill also has 13 years’ experience at senior executive level with Hydro Tasmania.

He has highly developed corporate governance skills and has previously held a number of non-executive Director positions for Tasmanian government businesses including Tasmanian Irrigation, TasRail, Tasmanian Water and Sewerage Corporation (southern region) and was a former member of the Tasmanian Renewable Energy Industry Development Board.

Mr Gill replaces Dr Dan Norton who was first appointed to the Board in February 2014 and has completed three terms and seven and a half years as a member of the Board.

The Government thanks Dr Norton for his many years of service and acknowledges his outstanding contribution.
