New dedicated walking and cycling paths at Rydalmere foreshore

Pedestrians and cyclists travelling along the Parramatta River foreshore at Rydalmere are set for a safer experience with the completion of new dedicated footpaths and bike paths.

The project, alongside a recently completed raised combined pedestrian and cyclist crossing at Brodie Street, is set to reduce user congestion on this important segment of Transport for NSW’s Parramatta to Sydney Foreshore Link.

It completes the planned separation between Park Road and Silverwater Road in Rydalmere and is part of the City’s continuous foreshore paths between Parramatta Park and Olympic Park and Melrose Park to the east.

City of Parramatta chief executive Gail Connolly PSM said it’s never been easier for residents, workers and visitors to walk or cycle in Parramatta.

“This is another piece of the puzzle of the Parramatta to Sydney Foreshore link, connecting people from the heart of our City to our suburbs to the east in Melrose Park and Sydney Olympic Park,” Ms Connolly said.

“More and more people in our community are walking and cycling with about 400,000 pedestrians and cyclists enjoying the foreshore at Rydalmere in 2023 alone.

“As more great paths like these are rolled out, we expect that number to grow.

“These important walking and cycling paths along the river foreshore will provide our community with more accessible and safer ways to travel around our City.”

Member for Parramatta Donna Davis MP said the new paths will make it easier and safer for our community to enjoy.

“We know people love our beautiful river, and these new paths will open up the foreshore in Rydalmere,” Ms Davis said.

“It is fantastic to see these works delivered with funding from the NSW Government, which is committed to delivering the infrastructure that will make our communities safer and easier to walk and cycle in.”

This project is funded by the NSW Government’s Get NSW Active program, enabling councils to design and deliver safe and enjoyable walking and bike riding projects in their local area.
