Professor Agneta Åkesson at the Institute for Environmental Medicine (IMM) has been appointed as a member of EFSA’s panel “Contaminants in the food chain”. The appointment is valid for five years.
The task is to provide scientific advice on issues surrounding contamination in the food chain and unwanted substances such as natural toxins, mycotoxins and residues of prohibited substances. More info about the panel can be found here.
Agneta Åkesson leads the research group “Diet, contaminants and health” at the Institute for Environmental Medicine (IMM). The group conducts epidemiological research with the aim of increasing knowledge of disease etiology and prevention within a broad spectrum of public health-related outcomes. Large focus lays on the link between diet, lifestyle, and health, also including aspects of sustainability and consequences of contaminant exposure via food and drinking water.
