New Funding To Drive Community-led Projects

NSW Gov

The Minns Labor Government is supporting grassroots organisations across NSW with $400,000 in funding to deliver projects that respond to local community needs and strengthen social cohesion.

Applications are now open for the Stronger Together Project Grants program, with grants of between $20,000 and $50,000 available for projects that create lasting positive outcomes for communities across the state.

The program supports projects that:

  • support new migrants and refugees to settle and participate in their communities
  • break down barriers to social and economic participation
  • build intercultural and interfaith networks
  • strengthen community resilience and support communities through challenging times.

Projects supported through the 2025 round included a water safety program teaching women to swim, creative cultural workshops that reached 3,500 people across the Central Coast, and a peer support program that helped 150 people seeking asylum connect with others in their community.

The new projects will be delivered between 1 January and 31 December 2027. Applications close at 4pm on Monday 14 September 2026.

NSW Minister for Multiculturalism Steve Kamper said:

“Strong communities are built by people who know their communities best.

“The Minns Labor Government is backing local organisations to deliver practical projects that bring people together, break down barriers and make sure everyone has the opportunity to participate.

“From helping new migrants and refugees settle into their communities, to building connections across cultures and faiths, these projects make a real difference in people’s lives.

“We want to see organisations across NSW come forward with projects that strengthen connection, build resilience and make our communities even more inclusive and welcoming.”

Multicultural NSW Acting CEO James Jegasothy said:

“Thousands of people have already benefitted from our project grants through education programs, mentoring initiatives, and activities that have brought different cultural and faith groups together.

“We’re proud to continue supporting community organisations and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this latest round of grants will deliver across NSW.”
