The Tasmanian Government is continuing to invest in lifting literacy outcomes across the state, with new Home Practice Phonics Kits soon to be distributed to government schools.
The new Home Practice Phonics Kits have been developed specifically for Tasmanian Government schools, informed by feedback from teachers and developed in collaboration with the Dyslexia SPELD Foundation.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said we are already seeing encouraging results across our schools through our strong focus on literacy.
“Earlier this year, we delivered more than 13,000 Phonics Tile Kits for use in Prep – Year 2 classrooms,” Minister Palmer said.
“We have had such positive feedback from teachers, principals and our parents, and the benefits of explicit phonics instruction are clear for all to see.
“These new kits are the next step, extending literacy learning beyond the classroom and into students’ homes where children can continue building foundational reading skills with familiar resources.
“Together, the Classroom and Home Practice Phonics Kits create a connected learning experience for students both inside and outside of the classroom.
“Through our Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are backing our next generations to build the foundations they need to succeed.”
