New Operator Set To Improve Tidal River General Store

Parks Victoria
Tidal River General StoreCampers at Wilsons Promontory can look forward to an expanded food offering, with new operators set to upgrade the Tidal River General Store.

Wilsons Promontory Cruises has been chosen as the new operator of the store following an extensive Expression of Interest process. This continues their long-standing connection with the Prom.

The much-loved store will undergo renovations to modernise the facility over the coming months. Once complete, it will reopen with a wider selection of food and supplies for the more than 550,000 visitors to Wilsons Promontory each year.

While this work is underway, a temporary General Store will remain open, offering takeaway food, hot and cold drinks, and essential supplies. The upgraded store is expected to open in time for the busy summer camping season in December 2026.

Wilsons Promontory Cruises is part of the Searoad Ferries Group and has been delighting visitors with its amphibious boat tours since 2019.

The store was previously run directly by Parks Victoria. The transition will allow us to focus on our core work: managing one of Australia’s most iconic national parks.

This project forms part of the Victorian Government’s $23 million Wilsons Promontory Revitalisation Program, which aims to protect the park’s natural environment while improving visitor facilities.
