New partnership to strengthen contemporary dance sector

  • Co3 Australia is partnering with Australian Dance Theatre
  • WA and SA Governments providing matching $50,000 investments
  • Partnership to increase exposure and employment opportunities for local dance artists 
  • Western Australian contemporary dance company, Co3 Australia has embarked on a partnership with prolific South Australian dance company, Australian Dance Theatre.

    Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman announced the partnership today at the annual Meeting of Cultural Ministers, currently being held in Adelaide.

    The dance companies will partner to present the production Objekt, which will be shown at the Heath Ledger Theatre in Perth and Adelaide’s Dunstan Playhouse in 2020.

    Objekt will explore the objectification of humans, and will be performed by both Western Australian and South Australian dancers.

    Youth and education programs will be presented alongside the production, further assisting the dance companies to develop current and future audiences.

    The McGowan Government is providing $50,000 to the partnership to match the investment from the South Australian Government.

    As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

    “This partnership is an example of the benefits that can come from government-to-government co-operation.

    “There are so many opportunities for Co3 and local dance artists in partnering with Australian Dance Theatre – the longest-running dance company in Australia.

    “The partnership will not only increase exposure and employment opportunities, it will promote and develop new audiences for contemporary dance in both States.

    “I’m also delighted audiences in South Australia will be given the opportunity to see the extraordinary talent of our local dance artists.”
