New pedestrian crossing at St John’s Mullumbimby is on way

Pedestrian crossing on Murwillumbah Road

Work on a new pedestrian crossing on Murwillumbah Road in front of St John’s Primary School in Mullumbimby, will start in late March.

The budget for the project is $188,000 and this includes minor improvements to the road surface and the relocation of light poles.

While there is an existing crossing near the school, it needs to be replaced to make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists, particularly students.

This project is jointly funded through the Australian Government’s $3 billion Road Safety Program, with the Australian Government contributing $150,000 and the NSW Government contributing $38,000.

This work will take roughly three weeks to finish.

There will be short delays and work will stop during school drop-off and pick-up times.

Information about the St John’s Primary School crossing upgrade is on Council’s website.
