New programs to bolster Tasmania’s cultural and creative industries

The Tasmanian Government is committed to providing ongoing support for our State’s vibrant arts sector.

I am pleased to announce applications have opened for four new funding programs to share in $2.5 million in Government funding over the next two years as part of our $4 million 2020-21 State Budget commitment to support and strengthen the industry as we recover and rebuild from COVID-19.

The programs are designed to support artists and arts organisations to create new work for new markets, and also to support community arts and cultural development projects across the State.

The programs are:

· Community Arts and Cultural Development (Arts organisations);

· Community Arts and Cultural Development (Individuals and groups);

· Community Arts and Cultural Development (Local Government); and

· New work for new markets.

Applications for New work for new markets and Community Arts and Cultural Development (Local Government) open today and close on 22 March 2021.

Application for the Community Arts and Cultural Development programs for arts organisation and individuals and groups will open in May and close in July.

These programs will be administered in line with the Cultural and Creative Industries Act 2017 with applications peer assessed by members of the Cultural and Creative Industries Expert Register.

These programs are offered alongside the Arts Recovery Support Initiative which is currently open for applications until 15 February 2021.
