New Resources To Help Australian Flyers

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The new Australian Air Passenger Travel Guide will help you get ready for your next flight.

The interim Aviation Consumer Ombuds Scheme has today released a comprehensive guide and 3 animated videos to help air travellers have a hassle-free journey and learn more about the Aviation Consumer Ombuds Scheme, known as ACOS.

The new guide provides practical information for air travel in Australia, including key requirements and responsibilities, information on baggage problems and complaints, travelling with disability and where to find help if you need it.

It is available as an online resource and as a downloadable guide in 6 languages as well as in accessible formats, including Auslan and Easy Read.

The animated videos explain what ACOS is, share practical travel tips, and show where to find information about making a complaint if something goes wrong with an airline or airport service.

Once implemented, the proposed new ACOS forms part of the recommendations from the government’s Aviation White Paper: Toward 2050.

ACOS will improve outcomes for air travellers by establishing an independent service to help consumers resolve complaints about airlines and airports.

To check out the resources and learn more about the Scheme visit the ACOS website.

If you would like to help raise awareness of the guide with your networks, you can access a digital information kit which includes suggested copy and images you can use for your channels.
